Cook's cottage, formerly named Captain Cook's Cottage, is located in Melbourne's Fitzroy Gardens. It was originally constructed in 1755 in the English Village of Great Ayton by Captain Cook's parents and brought to Melbourne in 1934.
I was born in Rotterdam, the Netherlands and, after having spent the first part of my life there, I lived in England, France, Mexico and the United States. I have been drawing since I first could hold a pencil and creating art has been a compulsion ever since. Though I am self-taught, I have taken many painting courses over the years, mainly in order to learn the use of different media. I have studied pastel with Roz Hollander, PSA, for nine years. My favorite medium is colored pencils, but I also use watercolor, acrylic and pastel. I usually wind up mixing my media to achieve the results I want. My paintings are considered realistic, hence my preference for colored pencils with which the finest details can be rendered. I have...
