I was born in Rotterdam, the Netherlands and, after having spent the first part of my life there, I lived in England, France, Mexico and the United States. I have been drawing since I first could hold a pencil and creating art has been a compulsion ever since. Though I am self-taught, I have taken many painting courses over the years, mainly in order to learn the use of different media. I have studied pastel with Roz Hollander, PSA, for nine years. My favorite medium is colored pencils, but I also use watercolor, acrylic and pastel. I usually wind up mixing my media to achieve the results I want. Thanks very much, Laurel. I'm not particularly good at producing sunsets but I was honor bound to try and paint one for a family member. It didn't go well and in the end I used watercolor, pastel, colored pencil and acrylic to get the job done.
